Had a lunch meeting here today and was very impressed. We started with the tuna tar tar which was spicy and uniquely delicious. Maybe one of the best tuna tar tars I've ever had. I then had the house salad with chicken which was great.

In San Jose for some business and I met with some business partners for lunch. Good place. I recommend. We started with some appetizers of calamari and the mushroom cigars. Mushroom cigars? What??? They are ground up mushrooms inside of a spring roll wrapper and then deep fried. Boom! These were delicious and so unusual. I love mushrooms and this cigar was packed full of mushroom flavor. If you like mushrooms, you should get these. If you don't like mushrooms, then perhaps we cannot be friends. I might give you a try, but it's a bad start. Who doesn't like a fun-gi? The calamari was basic and nothing special. For my lunch, I ordered the caesar salad with blackened salmon. One word, FANTASTIC. The salmon was cooked so perfectly and the blackened spices were not overpowering the salmon but was a great accompaniment. Delicious. Get it. Don't believe me? Well you probably don't like mushrooms either. The caesar dressing was not the best I have ever had, but it was good. I like a strong anchovy based dressing and this one lacked that extra kick. Go. Eat Well. HAVE FUN!!

We were in San Jose and looking for a place a bit last minute to have brunch on Father's Day. Another place we saw on Yelp had a 45-minute wait but The Farmers Union had space so we went there...we're glad we did! Here is what we liked: - Great outdoor seating! But, the place is massive and wasn't very busy on a Sunday...not sure if that is because of its location near many businesses, etc. The inside looked very cozy too, and the bar looked super fun. - My daughter got the Biscuits and Bacon Gravy, which she really loved. The bacon on top was incredible! My wife got the Eggs Benedict, which I got to taste, and it was really good. I went for something different for a change, the Huevos Motuleños, and it was very good...just be ready because it really packs a spicy punch. - Coffee was normal and they eventually brought us a carafe of water to our table, which we really liked. - Service was attentive, but not annoying or absent. - We didn't order cocktails, so I can't really comment on that although I will say that the brunch cocktail menu looked tempting, but we had a 3-hour drive ahead of us. Bottom line: The Farmer's Union was a great choice to meet up for brunch!

A friend and I had dinner here recently before a Sharks game and really enjoyed it. I had made a 545pm reservation on Open Table but needed to push it back until 6pm as my friend was running late. I called the restaurant and they were easily able to move our reservation to 6pm. Nice customer service. We got seated right away but it took a bit for the waitress to come over. They were quite busy. I started with a nice glass of white wine. Good sized pour. My friend had a fresh lemonade. For entree, I had the fish and chips. The piece of fish was huge. It was nicely fried, not greasy. Lots of fries on the side. A very big portion and very tasty. My friend had the burger. She really enjoyed it. Nicely cooked. Good toppings. Lots of fries on the side. Overall a really nice meal here. I have been coming here for years and almost always have a tasty meal with good service.
